About the Role
PeopleConnect is seeking a Director, SEO & Marketing Technology to lead organic discovery and the marketing technology that supports it across the People Search and OmniWatch businesses. This role reports directly to the Chief Marketing Officer.
This leader owns SEO and AEO driven conversions and revenue, along with the systems, measurement, content strategy, and prioritization required to scale organic acquisition across traditional search engines and emerging AI-driven answer experiences.
This is an office-based role with a hybrid schedule, including one flexible work-from-home day per week, based in our San Diego office.
This is a senior leadership role for an experienced operator who has built and run large-scale, programmatic SEO platforms and has owned the marketing technology and measurement infrastructure that makes organic growth durable, measurable, and efficient.
Core Responsibilities
Own SEO and AEO driven conversions and revenue across People Search and OmniWatch.
Define organic discovery strategy across traditional search engines and emerging answer engines and AI-powered search experiences.
Lead programmatic SEO strategy across large-scale, dynamic site architectures.
Serve as the decision owner for SEO, AEO, and martech tradeoffs impacting organic performance or measurement integrity.
Set prioritization across SEO-related engineering, content, analytics, and martech initiatives.
Own the marketing technology stack supporting organic acquisition, experimentation, and measurement.
Ensure tracking, tagging, attribution, and data pipelines accurately reflect organic user behavior and conversions.
Own GA4 implementations and partner with analytics teams to maintain trusted, decision-grade data.
Translate organic performance data into clear forecasts, insights, and business recommendations.
Partner closely with engineering and product teams to align SEO and martech requirements with platform roadmaps.
Partner with content leaders to ensure content strategy supports SEO, AEO, and conversion outcomes at scale.
Guide content structure, standards, and prioritization to maximize discoverability, authority, and intent satisfaction.
Navigate algorithm, platform, and ecosystem changes with sound judgment and operational discipline.
Lead and develop a high-performing team spanning SEO, analytics, and content partnerships.
Manage external vendors selectively with clear goals, accountability, and performance expectations.

Not a hands-on coding or day-to-day SEO implementation role
Not a reporting-only or analytics production role
Not an agency, consulting, or thought-leadership position
Not a first-time SEO or martech leadership role
Not focused solely on traffic growth without revenue accountability
Desired Skills and Experience
8–12+ years of experience leading SEO in large-scale, programmatic environments.
Demonstrated success driving meaningful conversions and revenue from organic acquisition.
Strong technical SEO foundation paired with sound business and strategic judgment.
Hands-on experience owning GA4 implementations and modern marketing technology stacks in complex environments.
Proven experience partnering with engineering, analytics, product, and content teams.
Experience operating in regulated, subscription-based, or data-driven businesses strongly preferred.
Ability to operate effectively in complex, cross-functional organizations with senior stakeholders.
Salary
Base Range: $175,000 - $220,000
Target Annual Bonus: Up to 25%, based on individual and company performance
This position is exempt (salaried).
The range reflects what the company reasonably expects to pay for the position. Actual compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibility.
