The SEO & Digital Optimization Lead is responsible for executing and continuously optimizing search and digital performance across Leidos.com and related digital properties. This role focuses on hands-on implementation of SEO, SEM, and emerging Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) programs, translating approved strategies and priorities into measurable improvements in visibility, traffic quality, and engagement. The successful candidate executes, optimizes, and measures approved SEO and SEM plans in partnership with internal functional partners and agencies.

This role partners closely with the Digital Platform Product Owner, Senior Digital & UX Strategist, Interactive Design Lead, Brand teams, and external agencies to ensure search and optimization requirements are built into platforms, content, and interactive experiences from the outset.

Key Responsibilities

  • SEO, SEM & GEO Execution
    • Execute and optimize SEO and SEM efforts, including technical SEO, on-page optimization, content guidance, keyword strategy, and Google Search Ads.
    • Apply AI-driven SEO and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) best practices to improve visibility, efficiency, and performance across traditional and generative search experiences.
    • Lead technical SEO with a focus on site architecture, crawlability, indexation, structured data, schema markup, performance, accessibility (WCAG), and core web vitals.
    •  Conduct regular audits of site structure, metadata, internal linking, accessibility, and content performance, delivering prioritized and actionable optimization recommendations.
  • Paid Search & Digital Advertising
    • Execute and optimize approved paid search and paid social campaigns, ensuring alignment to brand strategy, target audiences, and performance goals.
    • Manage day-to-day setup, optimization, and performance tracking of owned paid media efforts.
    • Ensure campaigns are launched, monitored, optimized, and completed according to approved plans and timelines.
    • Integrate organic and paid search insights to inform targeting, content, and experience optimization across the marketing funnel.
  • Performance, Analytics & Optimization
    • Monitor and analyze SEO, SEM, and GEO performance across impressions, rankings, engagement, traffic, and conversions.
    • Partner with stakeholders to deliver clear reporting, insights, and recommendations through dashboards and performance reviews.
    • Translate performance data into continuous optimization initiatives across content, experience, and media execution.
  • Collaboration & Governance
    • Partner with Brand to execute approved paid media strategies, messaging priorities, and audience definitions.
    • Collaborate closely with the Digital Platform Product Owner to ensure platform features and templates support discoverability, performance, accessibility, and modern search experiences.
    • Work with the PMO Vendor Manager to coordinate agency-supported paid media efforts, scopes, timelines, and delivery visibility.
    • Collaborate with external agencies on execution where agencies own specific tactics (e.g., programmatic, OOH, geo-fencing).
    • Ensure SEO, SEM, and GEO work aligns with PMO processes, governance standards, and reporting expectations.
    • Serve as the SEO subject matter expert, providing guidance, standards, and best practices across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience and 4+ years of hands-on experience in SEO and digital optimization. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience executing and optimizing both SEO and SEM campaigns.
  • Strong experience with GA4, Google Search Console, Siteimprove, Google Ads, and related SEO/paid media tools.
  • Deep understanding of technical SEO, accessibility (WCAG), performance optimization, and modern search behavior.
  • Experience working with agencies and cross-functional enterprise teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data-driven recommendations.
  • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder coordination skills.
  • Ability to balance independent execution with collaboration and process alignment.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $65,650.00 - $118,675.00
