We’re looking for a strategically-minded and energising SEO Director to lead our organic performance offering alongside our SEO Channel Lead — building deeper client partnerships, evolving our service, and future-proofing how we deliver SEO.
You’ll be on a clear track to Senior Leadership Team (SLT) membership, with EMI share options available for the right candidate. This is a role for someone who wants to make a real strategic impact — with the flexibility to work four days per week up to full-time.
You’ll drive service innovation, retention, and new business alongside our CEO, Strategy & Performance Director, and Business Development Director.
🚀 Why this role matters
This is more than a leadership post — it’s a chance to shape the next chapter of organic performance for our agency and our clients.
You’ll be the strategic lead for all things SEO: from technical audits and content strategy to AI-led innovations and scalable service development. You’ll also be a trusted voice to clients, prospects, and the wider team — raising the bar on performance and delivery.
This is a rare opportunity to shape not just SEO performance — but the future of how performance marketing is delivered.
💡 What you’ll be doing
- Lead the SEO strategy across our client base — ensuring everything we deliver is impactful, future-facing, and best-in-class
- Work closely with our SEO Channel Lead and a skilled team of SEO, content, and outreach specialists
- Take full ownership of senior client relationships — building trust, joining regular cadence meetings, and providing strategic direction
- Mentor, coach, and lead the SEO team — creating a collaborative, high-performance, and growth-focused culture
- Continuously evolve our SEO service proposition — aligning with market shifts, AI innovation, and cross-channel thinking
- Play a key role in new business and marketing — working directly with the CEO and SLT on pitch strategy and positioning
- Host monthly SEO deep dives and knowledge-sharing sessions — for clients, prospects, and the internal team
- Champion the right tools and practices — including GA4, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, ChatGPT, and emerging AI platforms
- Collaborate cross-channel — working alongside Paid Media, Content, CRO/UX, and Analytics teams to deliver joined-up strategy
📈 What success looks like
- You’re in front of clients regularly — inspiring confidence, building trust, and acting as a go-to strategic advisor on all things organic
- You’re coaching and energising people — lifting the confidence, capability, and ambition of both clients and internal teams
- You’re helping us lead the next evolution of organic search — including how we help clients capitalise on generative AI and the future of search experiences
- You’re breaking down silos — working closely with Paid Media, UX, and CRO to deliver fully integrated performance strategies
- You’re visible and vocal — regularly recording Loom videos to keep clients updated and share perspective on key shifts in the search landscape
- You’re driving demand — running engaging half-day organic search workshops for prospects in key UK cities every 6 weeks
- You’re part of our growth engine — collaborating with our Client Leadership and New Business teams to win, retain, and grow high-value accounts
🙌 Who you are
- An experienced SEO leader with a strong track record across strategy, content, and technical SEO
- A confident team manager and mentor — able to coach individuals and inspire a high-performance culture
- Commercially and strategically aware — you understand the broader impact of SEO within marketing and business growth
- Comfortable with senior client relationships — trusted for your insight, clarity, and long-term thinking
- A cross-channel thinker — experience working alongside Paid, Content, UX/CRO, and Analytics is a major plus
- Curious and future-facing — passionate about innovation, AI, automation, and evolving best practices
