Job Description

What does this role entail? As an SEO Specialist, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing SEO strategies to drive organic traffic to our brand website and property listings. You will work closely with the search, marketing, creative, and client teams to improve search engine rankings, enhance user experience, and generate high-quality leads for our properties. Your ability to stay ahead of industry trends, implement effective SEO techniques, and contribute to the company’s overall marketing goals will be key to your success.

Essential Roles You Will Play:

Develop and implement comprehensive SEO strategies that align with business objectives for property websites.

Research and analyze keyword opportunities specific to our owned and 3rd party managed properties. 

Create actionable plans for on-page, off-page, and technical SEO.

Optimize website content (including blog posts, property listings, and landing pages) for search engines.

Ensure proper keyword targeting, meta descriptions, headers, alt tags, and internal linking.

Collaborate with content creators & 3rd party website managers to ensure high-quality, SEO-friendly copy.

Identify opportunities for acquiring high-quality backlinks to increase domain authority.

Establish and manage relationships with relevant websites and local directories in the multi-family sector.

Monitor competitors' backlink strategies and develop counter-strategies.

Conduct site audits to identify and resolve issues related to site speed, mobile optimization, crawl errors, and broken links.

Optimize website structure for better indexing and user experience.

Work closely with developers to implement technical fixes and ensure proper site functionality.

Track and analyze SEO performance using tools like Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush (or similar).

Provide regular reports on keyword rankings, traffic growth, and other SEO KPIs.

Use data-driven insights to refine strategies and improve ROI.

Optimize and manage Google My Business (GMB) listings and other local SEO strategies to attract renters in specific geographic areas.

Ensure accurate business information across local directories and review sites.

Enhance local search visibility for owned and 3rd party managed properties.

Work closely with the content, social media, and paid advertising teams to ensure cohesive and complementary digital marketing strategies.

Collaborate with leasing agents, community managers, regional managers, and property owners to align SEO efforts with leasing goals and property promotions.

Prepare and present monthly performance reports to property management team & owners, offering insights, trends, and recommendations for continuous website & ranking improvements.

Keep up with the latest industry trends, algorithm changes, and best practices.

Participate in SEO forums, webinars, and industry conferences to continuously develop skills.

Work Hours and Work Environment: 

Hours of Operation:  Monday through Friday: 8am – 5pm

Essential Requirements: Must be able to perform the essential job functions unaccompanied. Exempt employees are expected to adhere to the standard workweek schedule and work any hours necessary to perform the duties of the job. Must be able to perform the essential job functions unaccompanied.

Education and Experience:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field.

Experience Preferred: At least 4 years of experience in in SEO, preferably in the real estate or property management sector and/or 2+ years in a lead roll. Proven track record of improving organic search rankings, driving website traffic, and increasing lead generation, preferably in the real estate or property management industry.

Supervisor Experience: A proven track record of leading a team or qualities in leadership as this position may or may not have direct reports. 

Computer Skills: Strong personal computer skills, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. Experience working with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Moz, or similar.

Physical Requirements:

Weights Requirements: Must be able to push, pull, lift, carry, or maneuver weights up to twenty (20) pounds independently and fifty (50) pounds with assistance.

Mobility Requirements: The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, stoop, and squat. Intermittently required to sit and perform keyboard work.

Travel Requirements: Routine local travel may be required to run business-related errands including but not limited to meetings and training. Non-local travel may be required up to 30% for business-related responsibilities.
